I truly feel as though I’m in college again. Regardless, I didn’t finish my homework; I’ve a few pages left to read. However, as it’s late on Sunday, I’m getting this in under the wire. Also, as I was thinking of what I was going to write, I was drinking beer out of a Solo cup (we just got back from a weeklong vacation, I didn’t want to do dishes) while watching my husband play Halo 3 (although in college, he wasn’t my husband yet and he would have been playing MLB on PS2). Then I ignored everything I was thinking and watched last week’s X Factor.
Anyway, back to the matter at hand. I’ll be probably writing in streams of thought, vaguely resembling a one-sided conversation, I imagine. I’ve been reading the Ultimate Edition that my husband got last year for Christmas… it’s got a built-in bookmark! Better than my trade paperback that is floating around somewhere in the house… or maybe in my parents’ basement. I’ve got books floating around everywhere.
Reading The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy this past week, I kept thinking back to the movie and how different it really is from the books, which were also much different than the original radio plays for the BBC.
I really like Mos Def as Ford and Martin Freeman is a damn fine Arthur (and now, whenever I see Bill Bailey on anything, which he’s on EVERYTHING here, all I think of is a whale turning into a flower pot). The cast of the movie is just good as a group. Would I have chosen them? Probably not. Does it work? Hell yes it does.
BBC Radio 4 has been playing the new “installment” of HGTG, And Another Thing… by Eoin Colfer, as its Book at Bedtime lately. I haven’t heard any of it, I had been planning on listening but it just didn’t happen. (Also, I’ve heard it’s not that good… I’ll still read it. I read Twilight, didn’t I?) (Yes, I’m going to read the rest of that series, too. It’s pretty good. Shut your mouth, Jacob. I know you’ll say something.)
Ooh, I just checked and I’ve still got one day left to listen to it on BBC iPlayer. So, in true college fashion, I will complete my assignment, go listen to something else and catch up on the reading next week.

I actually AM in college again, which makes me question the wisdom of taking all this on. Luckily, Stephen Fry reads the book to me in the car on my way to work now, which makes the whole thing far more manageable!
